Ski Beatz Shows in NYC Tillman's

These past 2 Wednesdays have been surreal. I have never felt hip hop so close to my heart. Getting to experience live music from ski and the crew and actually being able to chill like homies has been a great experience. Positive movement, fun performances, all epic.

"Light in August" The Mixtape: Themes

So here are some themes to my tracks in Light in August:

1. The coming of age: I rap about my family and how things changed. I mix it from first person telling to 3rd person. I also talk about how I have been changing.

2. Relationships: The good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful, the great.

3. Addictions: Alcoholism affected my family. I rap about how it has affected me and how it has changed over time.

4. Being a rapper: Still down to earth.

5. School: My feelings towards it and what I have experienced.

6. The hood: Always in me. I share my perspective.

Decided to show up in Allendale, New Jersey after performing in Rutgers Newark & New Brunswick as well as Brooklyn, NY.

This show was cool. Got to see people with guitars and singing. It was especially cool to meet someone in the audience that experienced the Newark riots in the 60's. He showed respect too. Much love.

Music and the stupidity of judging.

Lady Gaga and all these other artists that are considered great are sending out worse messages than gangster rap. They just hop on a jolly beat to cover up the nastiness.

And for my fellow minorities getting paid big bucks to degrade and disgrace your people, just know who is making the money off of you for making your people look dumb. Think of the bigger picture, and do not be a sell out.

Light in August.

I am an artist, not a saint.
I am a student, not a genius.
I am a fighter, not undefeated.
Through acceptance of reality and others along with ambition and goals I can achieve anything. Through my heart, mind, and soul I know what I am capable of doing right and I know I try my best to help others. We are all not saints, geniuses, and undefeated fighters. However, our perseverance seems to say otherwise.

Kenneth Faried from Newark, NJ to the NBA

What is a better story? Kenneth Faried played for Newark, New Jersey's Technology High School and had the opportunity of a lifetime to play for a division 1 team in the NCAA. During his fourth year at Morehead he broke Rebounding records beyond beliefs and was 1 shy away from tying Tim [boring] Duncan's double double record in the NCAA. His defensive stop at the end of the game against Louisville in the recent NCAA tournament is what sealed the win and landed them to make it to a further round. He is a humble, high class, high flying player and person!

On June 23rd in NEWARK, NJ!!! Prudential Center!!! Kenneth Faried was chosen as a 1st round pick to play for the Denver Nuggets. Teachers from our high school were cheering him on with signs that showed a great amount of support for the young man. I am pleased to say I have watched him develop as a person and a ball player. Since high school he was always a hard worker on the court. Off the court he always valued respect, had a sense of humor, and brought a positive environment to where ever he was at.

From playing NBA Live on PSP in lunchtime, to going to Nets games and seeing you get excited as fan of the NBA. To seeing you at the airport coming back from college with your bookbag that had a 35 on the back. I want to say congrats, it was well deserved. Good luck with everything! God Bless you!

Newark, NJ! Brick City all day!

PS Kenneth Faried Remix song Upgraded Video coming next week

And Shout out to ESPN for putting this video on the Youtube Draft Class List : The Article

Upcoming Mixtape "Light in August" - bc 2tone

Yes, this is the title to a William Faulkner novel. I loved the title for many reasons. August is the last full month of summer, so it's where we try to push highlights for memories of the short summers. August 12 is my birthday. And with light there might also be some darkness. I get to show two sides that contrast each other.

This mixtape will take classic and great hip hop beats and I'll lay my twist to it. This time around I feel I will sound a lot more natural and closer to my full potential than ever. I want to talk about the good things and bad things that come from being a real artist. I want to talk about crazy life adventures and top it off with how I am becoming an adult. I will go hard on this tape with crazy flows and subject matter. I am working on this full project with one sound engineer, Dan the man. It's going to be carefully put together and will be another experiment on a whole other level. It will have a different sound to it. I plan to bring something I have never done to the table for this one.

Couple Track names:

Sleep Paralysis
Sex in the Summer Time
Either way I'm still a leader

Set to be out sponsored on Datpiff.com August 2nd. If not, it will be out slightly earlier. I'm excited. You should be too. This one is gonna be crazy.

PS. I don't need a manager to tell me to put in work. I put in work cuz I'm a real artist making real music inspired by life.

The Adventures of Tarzan Mixtape: Download Now

This was an experimental tape. Tried to show a lot of sides to me in the most creative way possible. Respectful, arrogant, confused, focused, emotional, emotionless, and most of all... adventurous. Showed my conscious thoughts and revealed subconscious thoughts as well. Tried to mix up a sweet package of different flows, verse types, concepts, and beat selection.

Listen to it in its entirety to get the full message. Do not judge, Observe.

Track List with brief descriptions (Rough Order)

1. Intro: an intense beat, wicked flow displaying relentlessness as an artist.

2. Cloud Surfing 2 Ft. Ronthedon: This song can be the anti-drug for you. Very space like. Real Life content, as well as subconcious thoughts.

3. My Life is Dream: Slow paced, track is given some breathing. A way to slow you down and put you at a meditated mindset.

4. Play the Orginal (Taxi Freestyle): Talks about a lot with the city and life in general. Different flow from anything I have ever done in the pass.

5. Kenneth Faried: Song is placed in the first person view of college ball player Kenneth Faried. It honors him as an athlete and is straight metaphors. Slow tempo.

6. East Coast Connection Ft. G- Talk: Quick verses from me and my dude from Elizabeth. Putting on for Jersey.

7. Feeling it Ft. Javy Mcfly and Jose: Track is over Jay-Z's Feeling it. Basically spitting what we feel or felt at the time.

8. Then I found you: An intense song with hook. Places you in another world. Great effects and speaks a lot about the mind and obstacles in the setting of the jungle.

9. I'm not done yet: Speaks about why I am the artist I am and I do not like to boast about material. It was a real freestyle for some portions of it.

10. Freestyle Sessions: 3 beats. Random freestyles done in the studio messing around.

11. Bipolar Sunshine: Up and Downs of a relationship. However, she is still the sunshine that makes me happy but also can blind me, or make me see.

There will be 3 skits on the tape. A couple other tracks may or may not make the cut. If they do not, they'll be on the bonus mixtape with old unreleased tracks. Total possible tracks including skits is 15- 17.

The tape will be sponsored by Datpiff.com and will be a free download open to everyone. The bonus mixtape is only open for download to Datpiff members, but it is free to join! So show some support! Download the tape. If you like artists like Asher Roth and Kid Cudi then it will be a good add for your iPod.

It was a mission getting this tape done. Went through a lot of nonsense. Met a lot of shady people. Learned a lot. It was an adventure within itself. Thank you all.

Old Song. New Video

Official Link CLICK HERE

Woke up early in the morning, still dark out. Shot this in freezing temperatures. It was fun to get a little creative, have artistic visions and place my intro track into the visual form. Shout out to my dudes Jose and Ernesto for helping it get going. Jose on all of the editing finding of locations and directing of most of the video. It was mostly freestyled without much plan and came out dope because of Eternal Circle (Jose/Ernesto) hooking it all up. Nasty. Thanks. Enjoy. 1st video done with dope quality. Expect more. Hit up the FB or Twitter for any questions about the video.. Bricksssset out.

A look back at the first mixtape

http://www.datpiff.com/Brick_Set_New_Jerz_BC_2tone_Just_Practice_Starti.m121411.html

Sometimes I am proud of it. Sometimes I feel like it could of been better. I shouldn't sweat it though because I guess it is just motivation and a part of being an artist. The most disappointing part of some songs for me are the overdubbing issues that I ignored when first recording it. I guess we learn from experience. Hey, it was "just practice" anyways.

Mixtape is still good for being an amateur tape without much help getting done.
I give it a 7 out of 10. Showed a great amount of potential. Concepts for songs were cool. 1 or 2 tracks had technical downfalls but not enough to make it take away from the good of it.

If I were a listener that did not know me at all I would look forward to hearing what more can I offer and if I can polish up some stuff and develop as an artist. Therefore I have to do it right for the next tape "The Adventures of Tarzan". This is the reason I have held it back for so long. Gotta make it great.

Overall, I am still proud of my creativity and dedication to this music thing.
Now let's keep at it.

Oh and Cloud Surfing puts me in a different world. My favorite track on the tape..Didn't even record it in a studio.

Never Stop

Sometimes life is going to hit you with nonsense.
Keep it moving. Do what you can to fix it.
Do not stop for anything. Try to be happy.
Then you will be happy.
